Long awaited Equality Bill 2008-2009 published
After four years of reviews, discussion and consultations, the Equality Bill 2008-09 was published last week together with explanatory notes on each clause. The Bill aims to harmonise and strengthen discrimination law by bringing together existing legislation, seeking to adopt a single approach (where appropriate) in addition to making some important changes.

A belief in climate change capable of protection under discrimination law
At a pre-hearing review, a Tribunal has held that an employee's strong beliefs about climate change and the environment went beyond being a mere opinion and were capable of being characterised as a philosophical belief for the purposes of discrimination law.
