Tips and the minimum wage
The government has announced that as of 1 October 2009 service charges, tips and gratuities processed through the payroll will be prohibited from counting towards the employer's payment of the national minimum wage.

Constructive dismissal: Employer's behaviour is not subject to the usual unfair dismissal 'band of reasonable responses' test
The EAT, in Bournemouth University Higher Education Corporation v Buckland has held that the 'band of reasonable responses' test does not apply when considering whether an employer has fundamentally breached an employee's contract of employment (entitling the employee to resign and claim constructive unfair dismissal).
